Transparent Pies

Family Recipe

Our pies are a family recipe for Transparent Pies. Usually only found in Kentucky, we have brought this incredible pie out into the world!


Made with real butter, a hand rolled, flakey, pastry crust, filled with a caramel honey, perfectly sweet center. This is a pie like you’ve never had.


Each pie is hand crafted, 2.5” diameter.

All of our pies are made to order - we can have mini pies ready in about an hour, large pies need longer. Ideally orders are placed 3-4 days in advance. 


How to store our transparent pies

Our favorite way to enjoy the mini transparent pies is to warm them in the oven 350° for 5-7 minutes makes them delicious and gooey! Be careful, the sugar can get hot though! Pies are good for 4 days on the counter and can be kept in the freezer for up to a month.

For full size pies (6" or 9") 

Place foil over it, 350° for 15-20 minutes, makes the crust crips and flakey and the center warm!

These larger pies are good for 3-4 days on the counter or wrap tightly and freeze for up to a month.

Why 2nd Place Pie?

The name 2nd Place Pie came from a very straightforward place.

I lived in Brooklyn for 9 years and during that time a local restaurant called Enid's had an annual apple pie baking competition. I entered in 2014, and won 2nd, and won 2nd again in 2015. So, I ran with the name l was given. Let's get deep for a second - 1st isn't all it's cracked up to be! Through the experience of coming in 2nd, I realized that it's not whether you won first for it, but the fact that you actually just did it. Went for it. Tried the thing, and found value in it, no matter the outcome.
